on the verge of summer

We're on the verge of summer here on the west coast, with the days getting warmer and the sun staying out longer I can't help but be excited for the upcoming summer months. We had a long weekend last weekend and it was the first weekend this year that reminded me of summer. The temps were about 20 degrees Celsius every single day and I enjoyed my weekend to the fullest with trips to the park, blowing bubbles while babysitting, laying around the yard getting my tan on, a few beach trips, and some cold drinks and treats!

We've been without rainy days for over a week, and I'm hoping we'll go another! It's crazy what nice weather can do to your inspiration and happiness.

On another note, my best friend is coming to town tomorrow for the weekend (another long one), and I'm super stoked considering I haven't seen her since March! You can expect a question and answers vlog, and some pictures from the weekend both coming soon! Until then, have a lovely weekend, friends! :)

my life, documented

I was taking a stroll through memory lane late last night by clicking on random posts that brought me back 3, 6, 9, or even 12 months ago. It's so amazing to have so many memories and so much of my life and thoughts documented in one little corner of the internet, and even nicer knowing that it will be something that will always be there to look back on.

I've been thinking about blogging a lot lately- about why I do it, who I've met, what this little website has turned into for me, and how big of a part it plays in my life. I'm a obvious sentimentalist so this whole capturing small moments, and preserving memories thing is incredible to me. I can only imagine how I'll feel reading these posts years from now.

the calm before the storm

Sundays are always a weird mix of dread and delight. They are calm, lazy days spent in pyjama's, on the computer, or curled up in bed reading a good book. Unfortunately, they are also the time to prepare for the week, finish all the homework you said you'd do on Friday, and get yourself ready for routine again.

I can't decide whether Sundays are more dreadful than delightful, but I do enjoy that sense of calm before the storm.

This week holds nothing particularly special. School, obviously, maybe a trip or two to the beach, and hopefully a little adventuring, photo taking, and warm weather.

Is there anything special that you're looking forward to this week?

the beach and honour roll

We took a trip to the beach on Tuesday. Corbin stuffed as many shells as he could into his little coat pocket and climbed over slippery logs while the rest of us admired the beauty of the ocean.

I kinda dig these little trips. Short and sweet- just long enough to get my ocean fix in.

On another note, we recently got our report cards from the first semester and I made honour roll! I was pretty shocked to be honest, but hey, I'm not complaining! ;)

early morning instagramming

It's a new month, which means new goals, which means I woke up at 5:45 am today to go for a run. I'll admit, I suck at running, but my goal this month is to run every single day, so hopefully I'll see some improvement! :)

30 April 2012

ramblings and a sunset

I have troubles with blogging sometimes. When I can't think of what to say or find the proper words to express how I'm feeling I normally just give up. It's hard to put what your feeling into words sometimes, and it can get a little frustrating. I recently read a post on bloggers and blogging that talks about how making your own content rather than stealing other bloggers' ideas is so important, and it got me thinking. Sometimes making your own content is not easy. Sometimes I sit at my computer for hours, barely spitting out two sentences, get majorly frustrated, then close my computer and walk away. But from now on I'm gonna try a new style of writing. Not one that's meant to inspire, but rather something from the heart, or brain I guess. Whatever I'm feeling, whatever I'm doing, whatever's going on around me will somehow be put into words, which means this blog may contain a whole lot of rambling. It also means I may not be posting as often as normal.
