a motorcycle accident & exams

I'm kinda stumped on how to say this, so I'll just be out with it- Yesterday, on fathers day, my dad got into a motorcycle accident. I don't know if any of my followers know this, but me and my dad aren't very close at all. When I say "not very close" I mean that I haven't seen him for over a year.

My parents got divorced when I was about 6 months old. My dad was an extreme alcoholic and was constantly running from the police. He's been in and out of jail for drunk driving and he wasn't a part of my life for over 5 years. With that being said, I don't particularly like my dad. Although he's cleaned up and has been sober for a couple years, I resent him for not being there and for never being a dad to me and my sister, but it doesn't mean that I don't care about him. It just goes to show how irresponsible my dad is that he was out driving his Harley on fathers day.

I got a message from my Nanny (dads mom) this morning saying that he was in an accident and that he wanted to talk to me and my sister. I honestly hope that this whole experience will make him realize how important family is and make him realize that he needs to make an effort to be a part of mine and my sisters lives. He's lucky that he got out of this with only a broken foot, collarbone & a chipped tooth, because the doctor said that an accident that bad should have had him dead.

Nothing like a near-death experience to make him smarten up!

Moving on..

Today I had my first 2 exams. English was from 9-11 am, and Math was from 1-3. I'm pretty sure I did well on my English exam, but I'm not so sure about the Math. Due to a migraine and not being able to concentrate at all, I ended up guessing about half the answers. I was kinda upset because I was totally prepared for this exam and I studied soooooo much! I have my French exam tomorrow, then my Socials and Science on Wednesday! Here's hoping for no more migraines. ;)

I'm also working on some scheduled posts for when I'm on vacation in Calgary from the 1st of July until the 10th. They aren't just normal posts, but I don't want to give it away, so you'll have to wait and see! :)

Last but not least, what's a post without some pictures?

last day of school

Yesterday marked the last day of classes for me and I couldn't be happier. I realize that the majority of you guys have been on summer vacation for awhile already, but for some reason Canada gets out later.. It didn't really feel like the last day except for the fact that all the teachers were being extremely nice and laid back.

The day started out with my alarm clock blaring at 6:00. Since it was the last day, I wanted to curl my hair! :)

Photobucket

You can't really see it that well, but after nearly an hours worth of work, I was done. It's my favourite way to wear my hair but it takes f.o.r.e.v.e.r.

In Socials we watched the movie Ice Age, and in Science we did some revision. But the real fun started after lunch in 3rd block!

Photobucket

Any guesses at what we were playing?

If you guessed belly ball then you're right! If you haven't heard of belly ball, it's basically like California Kick-Ball except for 1st & 3rd base are replaced by the giant blue mats shown above. Once you kick the ball you have to run to the mat and stay on your belly or else you're out. 2nd base was a normal base where you got to stand up and the home plate was:

Oh yes, a slip & slide! :)

I'm pretty sure you get the point, but these pictures are way too fun not to share!

Okay, I'm done.

Oh wait, one more. ;)

Photobucket

So.Much.Fun.

Of course I didn't actually participate in the slip & slide action because taking pictures of people expressions was way too much fun! :D

Next block was English, where we had a party and went over some poems & things.

(don't mind their scary faces, they're actually quite amazing!)

What better way to end the last day of 9th grade then a ladybug for good luck?

Although I wanted to celebrate the fact that it was the last day of school, we still have Final Exams next week, which require a huge amount of studying. After going over my Math pre-test, Science notes, and flipping through my Socials textbook, I finally feel somewhat confident that I'll do well.

I'll most likely be able to post during the Final Exam chaos, but I'm not going to make any promises! Wish me luck! :)

P.S. Today I am starting a project 365. If you want to give it a look you can find it here! :)

summer ~ summer ~ summer

Guys. It's summer.

Photobucket

Well, not officially. I still have Final Exams, but today was my absolute last day of grade 9.

I only have one question-

WHERE IN THE WORLD DID THIS YEAR GO?!

By all means I'm not complaining that this year was speedy quick and it's now summer, but for serious, this year went sooooooooo quickly! It seems like just yesterday was my first day, but it wasn't (no kidding eh?). Anyways, I have no more classes, and after 3 days of Exams, I'll be finished with grade 9 forever (unless of course I fail..)!

Next year I'll be going to a new school but with old friends. In other words, these were my last few days going to this school! I managed to keep myself together until the 3 minutes before the bell rang when one of my friends gave me a hug and told me he'd miss me. That's when the tears started to fall.

I took about a gazillian pictures, which will be posted soon! :)

I love absolutely everything about this school- although I could do without the intense P.E. classes, this year my gym teacher pushed me and all the other students to do their best. Honestly, I've never felt more motivated. I'm sad to leave here, but I'm also extremely excited to be back in my home town with all of my old friends that I've known since Elementary.

Now before I go hit the books and study the hardest I have ever studied in my life, I'm going to go celebrate the fact that summer is here.

Photobucket
I have an odd obsession with taking pictures of my feet...

What are you enjoying about summer?

on riots and such

If anybody watched game 7 of the Stanley Cup playoffs between the Bruins and the Canucks then you know what I'm talking about when I admit that I am ashamed to call British Columbia my home right now. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, then let me tell you! I'm sure you all know of the Stanley Cup, but if not, it's a trophy awarded to the NHL playoffs champion after the  conclusion of the Stanley Cup Finals. I'm not going to go into too much detail, but basically there are playoffs and the team who wins the playoffs takes home the Stanley Cup.

This year, Vancouver's team the Canucks, and Boston's team the Bruins, were the final two teams competing for the cup. This is the closest the Canucks have come to winning the cup, and the final game was hosted in Vancouver.

Sadly, for all the Canucks fans, the Bruins won with 4-0. Apparently this causes Canucks fans to start a riot down town Vancouver. Don't know what I mean? Imagine cars lit on fire, shop windows smashed, multiple arrests and police using tear gas to try and get the rioters to stop rioting. Actually, you don't need to imagine it;

I personally think that this is the most immature, ridiculous, pathetic, horrible, and idiotic thing that they could have done. If the Canucks fans act this way when the Bruins won, then I don't think that Vancouver even deserved the cup!

I'm sorry that I'm rambling on, but this is giving Vancouver a reputation that it doesn't deserve, and to think that I live on an island named after Vancouver, it makes me angry to think that these people are technically my neighbours!

Just needed to get that off my chest.

love in a box giveaway

  • If you could have any camera in the whole wide world (money is no object) what kind of camera would you get?
I would probably get the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Now most people would probably just buy the best, most expensive and experienced camera out there, but I kinda want to be able to work my camera without studying the manual for 4243653463 years! Also, the camera body itself really isn't as important as lenses, so I'd probably just get the 5D Mark II and then a bunch of awesome lenses! :) Long enough answer Hope? Yeah- moving on!
  • What kind of photos are you most interested in taking, looking at, etc (macro, food, nature, portraits)?
All of the above! Honestly, not one is more interesting in the other! That's the art of photography! :)
  • Canon or Nikon?
I say Canon, but only because I've never owned a Nikon! Honestly though, I have nothing against Nikon or Nikon users! When I was buying my camera I was having a very hard time choosing between the Rebel T2i and the Nikon D3100.
  • Which inspires you most: Sunny days or Rainy days?
Probably rainy because they inspire me to get up and do something. Although the sun is also extremely inspiring!
  • A normal summer day would find you:
Sleeping in until 3:00 pm, making breakfast at 5:00 pm, eating watermelon, lounging around, swimming, relaxing, yeah.. you get the idea! :)
  • One word to describe you:
Different. That sounds depressing, but it really isn't! My whole life I have been slightly more mature and more understanding then other people my age. I always think it's because I was raised by a single mother, which in turn made me grow up faster than a normal child would have had to. I also think waaaaaaaaaaaay too much! I over-analyse e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. Want an example of that? It took me probably 20 seconds to decide if I should write "e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g." like I did, or to italicize it.. Yeah.. :)

     a. Sierra Leone
     b. Sierra Dior
     c. Mia Amour
     d. Mi Amora
     e. other:

I like Mi Amora (D) the best! :) LOVE IT! Some other suggestions;

1. Faith (always loved that name!)

Yeah.. that's pretty much it! :)
