month in review | july

Oh, July. I had been highly anticipating July's arrival since we booked our trip to New York in February. The first half of the month dragged on, then it was finally time to set out on our girls trip to the big city!

A dip in Durrance Lake on a hot, overcast day.

Madi's birthday dinner at The Surly Mermaid in Sidney. Such a fun night with friends!

A quick iPhone photos summary of our trip! I'll be sharing more details in a full blog post soon, but my gosh, we had the trip of a lifetime.

the butchart gardens

A couple of weeks ago, on a hot Sunday afternoon, Madi and I cashed in our complimentary tickets that our landlord had given us for The Butchart Gardens. The Butchart Gardens are a pretty popular tourist destination here in Victoria, and just so happen to be right down the road from home. I don't know how I've lived here so long and have never actually stepped foot in the gardens, but our landlord started working for them last year and gave us some free tickets, so I had no reason not to visit!

I never expected it to be as beautiful as it was! I was in awe of all of the flowers and work that must go into the upkeep. The Italian Garden was my very favourite. It really felt like I stepped into a little Italian courtyard for a couple of minutes and made me want to visit the real Italy even more than I already do!

I definitely want to make it back a little later this summer when the roses are in bloom in the Rose Garden. It was such a lovely afternoon spent with my best friend!

summer sunset scenes

With the weather getting warmer and less rain on the forecast these days, we've been spending a bit more time at the beach. One night a couple of weeks ago, we headed to Moses Point for an evening of grilling dinner, watching the sunset, and having a beach fire.

I bought this little grill for $20 last spring and it's probably the best money I've ever spent.

While we were waiting for the grill to heat up, Madi and Laura did a touch of yoga.

We were spoiled with such a beautiful sunset this night. I'm so glad I brought my camera to document it a little better!

Here's to the summer that's fast approaching and to more nights like these!
