month in review | august

August, my birthday month, and the last month of summer, is a month I always look forward to. This August was a beautiful one!

What's a month in review post without my cute Olive girl?

Celebrating my 22nd birthday on my Aunt and Uncle's boat with them and my momma! This is the second year I've spent my birthday out on the boat and it's always a wonderful time. We went swimming, had some drinks, grilled up some burgers, and they even surprised me with a delicious cake!

Mine and Auntie Donna's joint birthday celebration at Grandma's with the fam!

My cute little cousins one afternoon I was babysitting them.

First green bean haul from the garden!

Our landlords went out of town for the weekend so we invited Maggie over for a swim in the pool and a backyard BBQ on the mini grill. A super fun night with friends!

Charlie, one of the littles that I nanny, getting so big and cuter by the day!

Last signs of summer- blue skies and bright yellow sunflowers.

new york girls trip

After spontaneously booking a trip to New York back in February and months of saving and anticipation, the time was finally here for us to hop on a plane and make our way to the big city. The last time I was in New York was for my sweet sixteen with my best friend and my mom. This time around, is was with that same best friend and two of our other good friends who had never visited before.

We spent six nights in the cutest little AirBnB in Queens, and spent our days exploring all five of the boroughs. We packed so much into all of our days, but especially the first two, which is where most of these photos are from!

Ferry ride to Vancouver at the start of the trip!

Flatiron building.

We had some time to kill before we went up to the Top of the Rock, so we got some drinks at Magnolia Bakery then sat around by this fountain for a bit, just chatting and taking in the sights. It was one of my favourite parts of the trip and I think it's because it was one of the only times we stopped to take it all in!

These photos were taken seconds apart and I thought it was kind of a cool comparison! The top photo is more accurate as to what the sidewalks of New York look like but everyone seemed to step out of frame at just the right moment for me to take a photo!

The Top of the Rock. Just as magical as last time. It's so mind-blowing to see the city from this vantage point.

The High Line.

Statue of Liberty cruise.

Washington Street in DUMBO. This was our last full day in the city and we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, then made our way to DUMBO for this photo op!

All in all, it was such an incredible trip! It was hot as heck and the humidity was through the roof. We were so exhausted by the time we left the city and I was so ready to leave, but the second I got home I missed it so much. Until next time, NYC.
