i have this dream

Photobucket Photobucket

I have this dream. One that I've had for quite some time now, to travel the world someday. To pack my bags, hop on a plane, get off in a new destination, and have the time of my life. To go on train rides through Europe's countryside. To wander big cities, small villages, and foreign places. To walk down cobblestone paths and attempt to blend in as a local. To experience different cultures and meet new people, and most of all, learn and grow as a person.

Whether I do this alone, with one friend, or with twenty, I'm going to try my very best to make this dream of mine a reality.

22 September 2012

the weekend

It's 14 degrees and overcast right now. I'm curled up in a big chair with a piece of banana bread, some orange pekoe tea, my knitting, and one of four new books I got in the mail yesterday. The cool weather is a welcome change from the 25+ degree heat we've been having lately.

I've been so busy with school these past couple of weeks and have barely had any time to myself to just be. I'm more of a homebody than anything else, and while I love routine and being busy, I love having nothing on the agenda and relaxing at home even more.

So I've dedicated this weekend to reading, knitting, and drinking tea. Writing letters, watching movies, and sleeping in. Wandering the internet, catching up on YouTube videos, and nothing but relaxation. Maybe I'll even throw a self mani-pedi in there somewhere.

It'll be good.

What are you doing this weekend?

new york

I've had this video put together and ready to share for awhile now, but just couldn't bring myself to put it out there because of all the memories and feelings that come flooding back every single time I press the play button. It all seems like a dream now. A wonderful, beautiful, adventurous dream. So now that I've accepted the fact that I'm back at home, I present to you, New York, in video form.

Music by The Weepies.

Until next time, New York. And there will be a next time.

I've been trying to write this post for the past hour and just can't seem to find the words to properly explain this little boy and how much I love him. I've come to the conclusion that his personality is too big for words, so all I can say is that he's smart, and funny, and adorable. And he turned five today, and I love him.

Happy Birthday Corbin!

It's hard to believe that this summer is already a memory. That each little moment, like going for a day trip to the beach, or reading on the deck as the sun set, or coffee and doughnuts with friends at 4 am, is gone forever, except for in my heart, through these photographs, and scrawled across the pages of my journal.

This summer was one of the best yet, and while I'm sort of in denial that it has already come to an end, I'm still happy with what I got out of it. Hanging out with friends, picking berries, a camping trip, a morning dip into the pacific, turning sixteen, a trip to New York, getting my license, days spent downtown, a summer job, and many days of relaxing at home, with nowhere to be, and nothing to do.

It was a summer of perfection and I wouldn't change a single second of it.
