I live on a fairly large island known as Vancouver Island, and off of this fairly large island are several smaller islands ranging from 10-40 minute boat rides away. Newcastle Island is one of those islands. It's a short 10 minute boat ride away from the harbour and I've been going there for as long as I can remember. Before my grandpa passed away my grandparents owned a fairly large boat and we took a ton of boating trips- several day trips to Newcastle, and even some 4-6 hour journeys to the middle of nowhere where we would sometimes stay for a week at a time.
After my grandpa passed away though my family rarely visited the island because it's such a memorable place to us, but yesterday my best friend and I took the little green ferry over which marked my first visit in over 5 years.
